Well, it was another fantastic season for the CIPT. All things considered, who would have even guessed that we would be playing live poker at this point. The pandemic put one helluva strain on the normalcy of our lives and poker suffered as well.
One of the greatest things about this season was that we got to meet new players and reacquaint ourselves with ones we hadn't seen in awhile. One of the new players was Jamie and she seems to have adjusted nicely to a new group. She is helpful, friendly, and also, a good poker player. That is exactly why she was sitting at the championship table vying for a a ring. She did not disappoint.
The most impressive thing about her championship win was that in the first 20 hands or so, she took a major hit in a hand with Pierre in which he caught her with a set of Queens vs her pair of Aces. Pierre put her to a huge decision for almost half her chip stack. She deliberated internally and decided that Pierre was lying and she committed her chips, to her dismay. From then on, things looked bleak as she also lost smaller pots to Tino a Stella and found herself short-stacked. However, Jay would soon be the perfect vessel for her comeback. In a showdown with him for all her chips, she was able to out-kick Jay's Ace pair and double up. She was steady after that and as patient as they come. It paid off in winning good pots heading into the final showdown with Pierre.
Pierre's chip lead-was methodically diminishing leading up to this a pivotal hand in which Pierre would flop top pair Jacks facing Jamie's "all in" decree. Astonishingly, a pair of Aces in the hole were revealed and Jamie was able to again, double up. From there on, she just pecked away at his chip stack until he had no more. It was a compelling win for CIPT's newest superstar. I have the feeling it won't be her last. CONGRATS, JAMIE!!!!!
Yes indeed. Congrats to Jamie. Stellar performance.
