I'm not going to waste everyone's time with rhetoric about how much luck plays a part in good poker player's game. Instead, I'll shower Jerry with the praise he deserves.

He is the first 2 time CIPT Invitational champion winning season #5 as well as #9. What is most notable here, is the way in which he got there. It was uneventful first hour for Jerry as he played tight and reluctantly, relinquished a lot of blinds to aggressive bettors. The field was Jerry, Dame, Pierre, Tino, Mike, Ross, and Ellis. Ross was the first of us to get unlucky and then Tino and Pierre followed. Next, Mike was worn down to the numb and eventually had to get his chips in where he thought would serve him best. That didn't play out as he had imagined. Chips had passed around several times but it was the luck of Jerry that kept holding up. Ellis was last to fall before the heads up showdown: Jerry V Dame. It really didn't look like it would be eventful as Dame had about 70% of the chips in play. I thought it would be a swift game but Jerry doubled up one time and then started taking blinds (1500/3000) and winning pots. That was all it took and before you know it, Jerry was chip leader. It was insane but it was happening. and of course, as LUCK would have it, The last hand was Dame-Q-7 to Jerry's pictured 2-7 offsuit. It was an incredible reversal of fortunes but then you sit back and think about it and have to come to the realization that it isn't all that amazing, it's just what he does. Jerry may be one of the luckiest mofos I have ever seen but to quote a much better poker player than myself "luck is the by-product of design." I give you the season #9 champion......JERRY
