Ahem....the C.I.P.T has been in existence for about 11 years. During this time we've watched many players and personalities come and go. With varying degrees of success, the tour has always been a place for parity and a bountiful share of said success. Alas, it would seem that this has been the case for all but one; Mr. Pierre Sledge. Eleven years of championship futility has continually eluded him.....that is, until this glorious day. So many second place finishes to bad beats or just poor play and the opponent didn't seem to matter, as he's been equal an opportunity at payouts as Key Bank. He's lost to Dre, Fran, DeAntye, Joe, Kev, and Mike. These were all great champions who have represented with grace and dignity. It is with great appreciation that we welcome Pierre into the hallowed halls of the C.I.P.T.

The game itself was one to behold as Jerry, Jay, Molly, Tino and Bipp, all brought their competitive hungers to the table. It was early and we saw Molly get out to a good lead and she never relinquished for the majority of the game. In the second most shocking moment of the night, Jerry's hopes of becoming the first 2 time Invitational champion came to a crashing end when his KK were devoured by Bipp's AA. Jerry was the first player out which is a rarity in itself. In typical fashion, he stewed about what had transpired and allowed hindsight to get the best of him. It honestly was a call that most players at the table would have duplicated.

Molly would soon gain more chips and a significant chip lead over the rest of he table. The grind of cold cards eventually wore down Jay, who held on for as long as he could. Tino was next be be unlucky with a short stack that he had to quickly get into a pot. Pierre's hand stood up versus Tino's all in and we were now down to 3. Bipp was able to double up a short stack but eventually, gave way to Molly's pressure. It was now Molly v Pierre. At his lowest, Pierre had gotten down to about $3,300 in chips, but doubled up just before knocking Tino out. This gave him roughly $8,000 or so chips to go heads up against Molly's $37,000. While the cards had been cold early and strategic patience had been implemented, the tide turned with the exit of the other players. Molly and Pierre went back and forth early and then he was able to get Molly into a few compromising positions with check raises. This almost doubled his stack and made the mythical light at the tunnel's end, seem tangible. The pivotal hand was Pierre catching a set of 10's that Molly hadn't anticipated. A few hands later, we would have our Degree all in moment; Pierre's KJ v Molly's J10. The flop had showed them both a pair of Jacks but Molly would ultimately go down to Pierre's King kicker. FINALLLY!!!!!!!

It was a surreal moment versus a very worthy opponent. Molly was the season points leader and hungry for her first Invitational victory. She is a great player who will soon be summarized here, in a similar fashion. Pierre attributes this victory to not giving life to the demons of futility. For the first time, he never mentioned being championship-less, pre-game or during. It seems to have worked in his favor. For now, Pierre will bask in this surreal moment of victory and enjoy having a new moniker; Pierre-C.I.P.T Champion!!!!
